Melvin D. Dickson, Jr., 81, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, under the compassionate care of Heart to Heart Hospice.


Born on September 4, 1943, in Henderson, Melvin was the beloved son of the late Melvin D. Dickson, Sr. and Martha Dickson. A proud graduate of Henderson City High School, Class of 1961, he furthered his education at Austin Peay State University, where he was an active member of Phi Mu Alpha. He was a KY Colonel for 60 years.


Melvin was known for his adventurous spirit and passion for travel, often sharing stories of his journeys. He had a particular fondness for old western movies. His warmth and generosity were evident in every aspect of his life.


A devoted dog lover, Melvin cherished the time spent with his canine companion, Sheba. Together, they enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, whether it was a walk in the park or relaxing at home.


Melvin leaves behind a legacy of kindness and a love for life that will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Susan Dickson and son, Melvin D. Dickson, III.

He is survived by his daughter, Jo Elaine Hanville (Scott); one sister, Johanna Galloway; niece, Martha Lamble (Steven); nephew, Joe Galloway (Robin); grandchildren, Johnathan Johnson, Miranda Johnson, Cailan Dickson, Alyssa Dickson and Katie Dickson.
