Mildred Pearl Preston

Mildred Pearl (Odom) Preston, 95 of Onton, KY passed away Tuesday July 30, 2024 at the Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson, KY.

She was born in Ortiz, KY on February 10, 1929 to the late Cosby and Connie (Walker) Odom.

Mildred was a homemaker and was the oldest member of the Onton United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of the Onton High School and served as the coordinator for the Alumni banquet.  She also was a member of the Onton Hay Days committee and the National Odom Assembly.

She married Freddie Preston on September 26, 1947. They loved traveling and seeking out antique stores for treasures.  Mildred stayed at home with her companion dog Izzy until entering hospice care.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Freddie Preston, son Dale Preston and granddaughter Kelly Preston, 3 brothers; George, Jack and Ed Odom and 2 sisters; Carlene Cobb and Katherine Ballard.

Mildred is survived by 3 children; Tonia (Mike) Thomasson, Kent (Lisa) Preston both of Onton, KY and Sam (Bobbi) Preston of Evansville, IN. Daughter in law Pam Preston of Onton, KY

6 grandchildren; Steve Wiley (Carrie), Ross Thomasson (Samantha), Tonya Redfern, Blake Preston Brandon Moore and Kade Preston.

16 great grandchildren; Brittni (Tim) Parker, Cory Wiley, Olivia Wiley, Chyanne Wiley, Coleman Wiley, Noah (Jerika) Thomasson, Tory Richmond, Jordan (Chase) Coyer, Keegan (Ronnie) Hayes, Landon (Allysson) Bennett, Hunter Redfern, Aiden Preston, Eli Preston, Tory Hayes, Kendall Wolf and Brianna Lancaster.

13 great great grandchild; Preston Wiley, Bailey Tichenor, Nate Parker, Bristol Thomasson, Stella Thomasson, Colter Thomasson, Owen Bennett, Parker Coyer, Carter Coyer, Autumn Hayes, Eric Hayes, Milli Moore and Matthew Parker.

Nieces and nephews also survive.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday August 1, 2024 at the Onton United Methodist Church.

Pastor Ronnie Highland will officiate.

Burial will be in Onton Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time at Onton United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers will be Steve Wiley, Preston Wiley, Cody Redfern, Blake Preston, Aiden Preston and Eli Preston.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Brandon Moore, Keegan Hayes, Kade Preston, Hunter Redfern and Landon Bennett.
