Millard Wayne Wood

Millard Wayne Wood, 75 Robards, died at 6:27 PM October 7, 2016 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital, Newburgh, IN. He was a Sunday school teacher, deacon and member of Shady Grove General Baptist Church. He dedicated 33 years of his life to education. He taught math for 3 years at Webster County High School, 3 years at Henderson City High, and 27 years as a guidance counselor at Henderson City High, 9th Grade Center, and South Jr. High School. He cared about each student and never forgot a student’s name. He loved to fish, hunt, and cook for his family, and follow the St Louis Cardinals and the KY Wildcats. He was a dedicated Christian, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Susie Wood, his beautiful granddaughter Kaci Wood and his parents; Della Mae and Clarence Wood. Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Vaughn and her husband David of Newburgh, IN, Amy Newman and her husband Jeff of Poole, KY; one son, David Wood and his wife Shanna of Sebree, KY; seven grandchildren; Austin Vaughn, Ashley Newman, Amanda Newman, Kayleigh Wood, Cameron Vaughn, Kari Wood and Allie Newman, one sister, Mary Ann Hancock of Grandview, IN; two brothers-in-law, Maurice Forker and his wife Karen of Sebree, KY, Jim Ashby and his wife Jeannie of Robards, KY; several cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends who loved him. Services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Sebree, KY. Visitation will be Monday, 3:00 PM-8:00 PM and Tuesday, 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Dr. Dean Easery will officiate. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole, KY. Pallbearers will be Cameron Vaughn, Austin Vaughn, Steve Steiner, Will Steiner, David Vaughn and Jeff Newman.
