Nancy Gregory Strouse Obituary Nancy Gregory Strouse, of Henderson, age 57, passed into Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on October 3, 2016. She was at her home with family and friends when she left this world. She was born April 26, 1959 to late Bill Gregory and Barbara Wilson Gregory. She started her battle with Breast Cancer in January of 2010 and fought a good and honorable fight trying to touch the hearts of all those that she came in contact with. She loved telling her testimonies of her many miracle gifts that God had given her. Nancy was a member of the United Church of the Nazarene where she felt members there were like extended family. During her life she attended several churches starting with Audubon Baptist where she gave her life to God and was baptized. She also attended First Assembly of God for 17 years, then Zion Baptist and Hyland Baptist. During her mother and step-father’s failing health she attended church with them at Parke Memorial Presbyterian in Evansville, IN. Upon the passing of her mother, Nancy and her husband, Mark, joined the United Church of the Nazarene on Sand Lane in Henderson, KY. When asked what religion she was she would laughingly say, “I guess I’m a BaptiCostalPresbyterianNazarene!” Nancy started working as a hairdresser in 1977 also owning and operating her salon in her home for many years. She loved her clients as family and if you got a haircut you usually left with baked goodies or a bouquet or both. Nancy loved gardening in her flowerbeds full of roses and anything else that could be cut and put in a bouquet. She took great joy in arranging them and especially in giving them to others to enjoy. One bouquet would fill the room with a sweet, fragrant aroma. She would add her signature Angel feather and a short poem that she had written to each bouquet. She loved writing poems for special occasions. Her writings were Dr. Seuss style and mostly silly with some on a serious note. Nancy was an active volunteer at Seventh Street School where she coached the 5th and 6th grade cheerleaders and helped organize school parties. She loved silly games and was usually the biggest kid in the room. She enjoyed teaching Bible school, Brownie Girl Scouts and loved her years helping teach Missionettes. Nancy enjoyed needlework, crafts, bicycling on her nerdy bike, hiking, fishing and taking pictures. You rarely saw her without her camera as she thought every minute was a “Kodack Moment”. She didn’t need much of a reason to throw a party, because she loved baking the cake, goodies and making the decorations, especially anything sparkling or glittering. She spent her life enjoying God’s gifts, her husband, her family, her church and school activities. She adored her 2 daughters and 2 grand babies. She was happiest when doing something for someone else, making a point to find someone to show kindness and God’s love to everyday. She made it her mission to Shine Bright reflecting God’s SonShine to all those around her, giving all praise and glory to God as the scripture talks about in Matthew 5: 16. She was preceded in death by her father William (Bill) Gregory in 1999, her mother Barbara Wilson Gregory Kirtz Phillips in 2013, step-father Ron Phillips in 2011, sister Lori Gregory Gary in 2006 and a brother, Tony Kirtz in 2013. Nancy is survived by husband Mark Strouse, married for 34 years, 2 daughters; Chelsea Hunter, her husband Casey and granddaughter Rachael Adele of Newburgh, IN, Lindsey Malone, her husband Josh and grandson Grant Christian of Chesterton, IN.
