Oma Fern Smithhart

Oma Fern Smithhart, 80, of Cairo, passed away on August 7, 2024, at Deaconess Henderson Hospital. Born on June 8, 1944, in Roff, Oklahoma, she was the beloved daughter of the late Theodore Wesley and Hester Melvina Alderson.

A devoted member of the Baptist faith, Fern lived her life with a spirit of generosity and love. She was an avid crocheter and an enthusiastic reader, skills that were a testament to her creativity and dedication. Known for her exceptional cooking talents, she took great joy in preparing meals and caring for her family, who were the center of her world. Fern and her husband Carl loved to travel, exploring 44 states together.

Fern was also a passionate UK basketball fan, a pastime that brought her much enjoyment. Her unwavering devotion to her loved ones will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Laquita Simpson.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Carl Smithhart; two children, Wesley Smithhart (Sheila) and Rachel Smithhart; one brother, Wayne Alderson; her fur grandbabies, Sheldon, Bailey and Abby.

Visitation will be, 10:00 AM-2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday at the Funeral Home.

Bro. Don Haire, Jr and Bro. Brian Haire will officiate with burial in Mt Zion Cemetery in Reed, KY.
