Oneal "Rube" Wright

Oneal “Rube” Wright, 88 of Onton, KY passed away Tuesday July 25, 2023 at his residence under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.

Rube was born in Onton, KY on January 16, 1935 to the late Chester David and Mary Louise (Coomes) Wright.

He was a member of the Onton United Methodist Church. Rube retired from Alcan in 2000. He loved the Green River and spent much of his time fishing there. He loved watching his sons and grandchildren play sports never having missed a game. He was able to attend a few games of his great grandchildren too. Rube had a nickname for everyone and was a flashlight fanatic always having one with him. He looked forward to Sunday night dinners with his family.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Willie Wright, brother, Henry Lewis Wright and a sister Hattie Mae Wright.

Rube is survived by his wife of 59 years Betty Wright

4 Great Grandchildren; Charli Jackson, Kollins Jackson, Wyatt Donnelly and Henry Greenwell

Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday July 29th at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel.

Pastor Ronnie Highland will officiate.

Burial will be in Onton Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 and Saturday 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Brady Wright, Darryl Melton, Garrick Melton, Jacob Joiner, DeWayne Wilson and Chad Wilson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Travis Wilson, J. P. Wilson and Tine Joiner.
