Opal Eilene (Knox) Yarbrough, 91 of Madisonville, KY passed away Friday September 20, 2013 at 8:25 AM at Baptist Health in Madisonville. She was born April 12, 1922 in Hopkins County, KY to the late William “Taylor” and Norma (Laffoon) Knox. . She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Madisonville with roots in Suthards Christian Church, which her family helped build. She graduated from Nortonville High School as Valedictorian and attended Murray State University with the help of her childhood friend, June Laffoon. She worked at the Hopkins County Court Clerks Office before marrying her childhood sweetheart, Arthur Yarbrough after he returned from WWII. They moved to Lexington until Arthur graduated from UK on the G.I. bill in 1950. Eileen worked as a secretary at the Chrysler factory in Evansville until they moved back to Madisonville to open the Lawn & Garden Center in 1956, which they operated for over 50 years. It is now operated by sons John and Mark. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers John “J.B.” and his wife Maxine Knox, William “Bill” and his wife Modell Knox and Tommy Knox. She is survived by her husband of 67 years Arthur Yarbrough. Sons; John Yarbrough of Madisonville, KY Mark Yarbrough of Madisonville, KY Sister-in-law; Helen Knox of Madisonville, KY Nieces and Nephews also survive. Services will be held Sunday September 22, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington. Bro. George Brooks will officiate. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery in Madisonville. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 until service time at the funeral home. . .
