Owen Louis Kanipe

Owen Louis Kanipe, 87 of North Port, FL passed away at his home on November 26, 2022.

Owen was born in Little Dixie Ky on October 6, 1935 to Louis Hales and Virginia Louise (Royster) Kanipe before moving to Corydon, KY. He was a member at First Christian Church of Henderson, KY and Punta Gorda, FL. He graduated from Barret Manual Training High School Henderson, KY Class of 1954. Owen went to work at Henderson-Union RECC (now Kenergy) in 1955 retiring 1996 after 41 years. He was involved in the Member Services Department then later Metering Department. He was an Amateur Radio Operator call license WA4KZI. He worked in the summer as a Mutual Clerk at Ellis Park Racetrack and Audubon Raceway. He was a member at the Henderson Elks Lodge. After retiring, he a Eva Mae moved to Sarasota County Florida and settled in the City of North Port. He enjoyed volunteering for the Performing Arts as usher. He joined the Fletcher Music Club in 2008, where he learned to play music on the Lowery Organ. He had many Facebook friends and enjoyed reading all the funnies friends had sent him.

Owen is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Eva Mae (Buchanan) Kanipe. Son, Raymond Owen Kanipe (Gail) of Evansville, IN; Daughter, Paula Kanipe Schones of Henderson, KY. Sister: Bettye Lou (Kanipe) Bolds, Waverly, KY Grandchildren: Heather Elizabeth Kanipe Hall (Matthew), Fort Benning, GA; Samual Wayne Kanipe, Owensboro, KY; Amy Marie Kanipe Hyatt (Andrew) Evansville, IN, Tiffany LeAnne Schones Nelson, Henderson, KY Great-grandchildren: Hunter Evan Hall, Emalene Elizabeth Hall, Carmen Sue Hyatt, Tanner Samual Nelson, Elsie Hyatt, Walker Damien Schones. Nieces: Twila Anne Bolds Ilgenfritz (Kurt), Dawn Marie Bolds Rheam (Jessie), Nephew: Daniel Neil Bolds

Visitation will be at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 10am until 2pm.

There will be a private burial at the Fairmont Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Fred Ray, Allen Singer, Jerry Phillips, Bill Jones, Kenny (Rock) Liggett and George Brown.
