Paul Lee Drury, 85, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, February 9th, 2025, at Walnut Creek Care Center in Evansville, Indiana.
Paul was born in Henderson, KY, on August 3rd, 1939, to the late Roy Lee Drury and Anna Hyacinthe Wilson. He graduated from Henderson County High School in 1958 and was a proud member of the late Mojo Hollowell’s inaugural HCHS football team.
Paul never met a stranger and always had a joke or story to share. Probably half of Henderson has a place in one of his plethora of stories, many of which he told, and some we are sure he is taking with him to his grave.
He was deeply involved in his community: He coached Little League baseball and football for many years when he was younger and continued to support and mentor Henderson youth well into his twilight years. He participated in numerous Henderson County High School Booster Club events, supporting the Colonels in various ways, from cooking at concessions to buying season passes and attending games religiously for well over sixty years, until his body called Time Out.
Paul loved not just the local maroon and white Colonels for so many years, but also exhibited an equal fanaticism for his beloved UK Wildcats and could often be seen sporting one of his blue and white UK ballcaps around town.
Paul was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He joined in 1968, received the Fellowship Degree of Honor in 2002, was Administrator from 11/22/2000 to 12/13/2002, and received his Lifetime Membership in 2018.
Paul's early career was as a Quality Control technician at General Foods in Evansville. His children have fond memories of the gigantic cakes he would bring home for their birthdays that would be enjoyed by all of the neighborhood children as well. However, he greatly loved Henderson (and was not thrilled about being told what to do and wanted to be his own boss), so he partnered with his uncle at the Swap-Shop (a second-hand furniture and pawn shop), which eventually led to his establishing Drury’s Furniture (right across from The Moose), which operated for seventeen years. He later owned Elite Screen Printing and Mojo Sports, both of which are still in business today by the owners to whom he sold.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Wayne Fulcher.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nina June Drury; his children: Deborah Drury of Lexington, KY; Barb Griffith (Kevin) of Henderson; Army Colonel (Ret.) Paul (Scotty) Drury (Sherry Schnake) of Alexandria, VA; and Jeff Drury of Hawaii; his brothers: Terry Fulcher of Kingman, AZ, and Mike Fulcher (Jackie) of Vista, CA; grandchildren: Maddie (Prague, CZ), Emily (Hillsdale, MI), Anna (Nate) (DC), Allie (NYC), Fia (Terre Haute, IN), and Izaak (Indianapolis, IN), and many other relatives and friends.
