Phyllis Ann Smith

Phyllis Ann Smith, 83, of Henderson, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. She was born in New Harmony, IN on June 27, 1938 to the late Marion and Rosalie (Rush) Axton. She was retired from Henderson County Schools as a cook and was a member of Airline Baptist Church. Phyllis loved the Lord and lived her life to the fullest. She was loved by everyone who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Smith; stepson, Michael Smith; great granddaughter, Hannah Utley; grandson-in-law, Dusty Utley; and two brothers, Don Axton and David Axton. She is survived by stepdaughter, Debbie Campbell (Gary), daughters, Cindy Midgett, Christina Phillips, and Julie Wint (Tony); 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Memorial service will be at noon on Friday, September 3 at Airline Baptist Church in Henderson with Rev. Jeff Hesley officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Friday, September 3. Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson is entrusted with arrangements.
