Raúl González, at 90 years of age passed away peacefully in his home under the care of hospice.
Raúl was born in Camagüey, Cuba on August 10, 1934 to Roman Gonzalez-Cruz and Amparo Jimenez.
Raul’s mother died during his birth which led to a difficult childhood. During a revival in 1955 he gave his life to Christ and this turned his life around. In 1959, at the age of 25 he married the love of his life, Ana Trenhs, who was from a large and happy family. Raul and Ana had 2 sons, David and Daniel by 1962. During the 70’s and 80’s they endured the hardships of the communist regime of Fidel Castro, but remained strong in their faith.
Raul and Ana came to the United States in 1993. The proudest moment of Raul’s life was when he was sworn in to become a US Citizen in 2002. Raul loved God, this country and playing his guitar and singing old hymns.
Raul was proceeded in death by his wife Ana.
He is survived by his son David and his wife Lorena Gonzalez of Monterrey Mexico, his son Daniel and his wife Lori Gonzalez of Slaughters, Ky and 5 grandchildren, Yarlene Gonzalez, Daniel Gonzalez, Gabriel Gonzalez, Valeria Gonzalez and David Gonzalez and two great-granddaughters, Bryanna and Brittany Machado.
A graveside service will be held at Slaughters Cemetery, Saturday April 26 at 11:00 am. His Son, Pastor Daniel González will officiate.
Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel is handling arrangements.
