With hearts full of love and cherished memories, we say goodbye to Rhonda Johnson, who passed away at the age of 71. She spent the last years of her life with joy, laughter, and a touch of adventure, always ready for a good game of bingo or a friendly round of Wii bowling with her friends at Red Bank Towers. She had a deep and unwavering love for her family and friends—her children, grandchildren, and siblings were the greatest joys of her life.
She spent over 30 years of her life serving many loyal customers as a waitress at Jerry's Restaurant, where she built friendships, shared laughter, and worked with a heart full of kindness. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome, whether they were a longtime regular or just passing through.
She was also an avid gardener, a skill she lovingly learned from her grandparents. In the deep of summer, she could often be found tending to her garden, nurturing her plants with the same care she showed to the people in her life. When she wasn’t outside with her hands in the soil, she was in a hot kitchen canning tomatoes and other fresh vegetables, making sure nothing went to waste and that her family always had a taste of homegrown goodness.
Though life threw challenges her way, Rhonda faced them with strength and determination. After surviving a traumatic brain injury from an auto accident in 2003, she went on to overcome skin cancer, breast cancer, and loss of loved ones. Through it all, she never lost her spirit, her sense of humor, or her love for the people and moments that made life worth living.
A true lover of a good gambling event, Rhonda was never one to turn down a trip to the casino, often needing a little nudge (or a full-on rescue) from her daughter when it was time to go. With a Coke in hand and a smile on her face, she found happiness in the little things—good company, good fun, and the thrill of a lucky streak.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Martha Reed, and her brother, William "Bart" Reed. While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that God is Sovereign and Faithful, totally Worthy of our full trust. Her warmth, humor, and boundless love will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
Rhonda is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Robin Fricke (David) and Jennifer Stone; her siblings, Robbie Reed (Dorothy) and Jetta Lahr (Ron); as well as her seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
