Richard M. Mattingly, 65, of Henderson, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021 at home. He was born in Henderson on December 16, 1955 to the late Dorris Edward, Sr. and Naomi Lee (King) Mattingly. An Air Force veteran, Rick was a self-employed contractor and carpenter, who enjoyed working hard and spending time with his friends at the American Legion Worsham Post # 40. He was an avid reader, and loved watching Nascar, playing horseshoes and anything related to the outdoors. He particularly enjoyed cooking out and entertaining friends and family. He will be sorely missed by his friends, family and loyal customers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Zondra A. Dykes; sister, Mary Alice Workman; brothers, Dorris “Eddie” Mattingly, Jr., Danny Mattingly, Bob Mattingly, David Earl Mattingly, William “B.J.” Mattingly, and Timothy Stephen. He is survived by his companion of 12 years, Patty Haleman; daughters, Melissa Ries (Todd), Michelle Mattingly, and Kelly Edgar (Charles); siblings, Charolette Herron (Mike), Judy Greathouse (Jeff), Jimmy Mattingly (Cathy), Jeff Mattingly, Greg Mattingly, Susan Brooks, Tommy Mattingly, Tony Mattingly, Paula Harper (Danny), Sheena Wilkerson (Mike), Zorina Spedding (Rob) and Mark Roberts; seven grandchildren, Gabriel Ries, Trinity Ries, Iommi Ries, Missy Edgar, Krissy Edgar, Zachary Pearson, and Charly Edgar; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, February 6 at noon at the Henderson American Legion Worsham Post #40, 1709 Madison Street, Henderson, KY 42420 or call 270-827-8827 for more details.
