Richard "Rick" Alan Posey

May 6, 1954 — November 27, 2021

Richard “Rick” Alan Posey,  67, of Dixie,  passed away November  27, 2021 at home. He was born in Henderson on `May 6, 1954 to Henry Addison Posey and Pearl Tapp Posey.  He grew up in Corydon on the Posey family farm which was part of the original 450 acre Land Grant Land awarded to General Thomas Posey as a Warrant after the Revolutionary War.  He was the 7th generation to own and farm the land.              He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Addison Posey; his son, Stuart Addison Posey and his brother, Dr. Darrell Addison Posey.              He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Helen Campbell Pearson Posey; his mother, Pearl Allen Tapp Posey; daughters Leslie Anne Posey Rideout (Ty) of Henderson and Katherine Allen Posey (Ben Skinner) of Gainesville, Florida; grandchildren, Savannah Katherine Rideout, Brayden Andrew Rideout and Holden Addison Rideout; cousin Shirley Posey Wathen (Donald); sister-in-law Peggy Pearson (Frankie Smith) of Banner Elk, NC; and a niece, Elizabeth Pearson-McLaughlin of (Charlotte, NC); niece, Allison Posey Horning and great nephew,Garrett Horning of Henderson, and other cousins.              Rick was an avid golfer in his younger years and carried a -3 handicap.  During the 1980’s and 90’s Rick competed in many tournaments both locally and statewide.  He was proud to have beaten golf professional Kenny Perry in a preprofessional tournament in Louisville. He won a number of Henderson City golf championships, the Helfrich Open in Evansville, the Tri-State Open in Evansville among others.  He went on to coach a number of boys and girls including Jace Bugg who as a young man became a professional player.                He raised quail and setter bird dogs for hunting quail and his blood line has a number of national champions and the bloodline is still going strong.              In the last few years he enjoyed having a pontoon boat at Buzzard Rock and being able to just relax and fish with friends.  Thank you to our friend Russell Foster for making this possible.              He graduated from LSU in 1976 and was an avid LSU football fan all his life.  Geaux Tigers!                He was a master bar-b-quer and cooked chicken and ribs like no one else.  We will all miss his cooking.                He was a good friend and could tell a joke on a moments notice in any situation.  He lived by “A day without laughter is a day wasted”, so in honor of Rick, have a laugh today.                A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 3rd, 2021 at 2 pm at Tomblinson Funeral Home, Henderson Chapel.  Rev. Eric Hoey will be officiating.              Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 2 pm at the funeral home.              Memorial contributions may be made to The Presbyterian Church of Henderson, 100 S Main St.
