Richard Dale Shoff, 62, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at his home, after a three-year battle with cancer. He was born April 7, 1961, in Washington Court House, Ohio, and was a longtime resident of Henderson, Kentucky, and was a member of Water’s Edge Church.
He had a strong work ethic and was employed as a laborer, truck driver and heavy equipment operator working construction. He took up woodworking, starting with making shutters for the house which led to other creative outdoor custom wood designs that he shared with his family and friends. He cherished the moments with this family, especially the grandchildren, as they always brought him such joy.
He was predeceased by his mother, Rosie Mae Green, who he was remarkably close and devoted to.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Mary Boom Shoff, is his son, Kamden Dale Shoff, who mellowed him and brought true meaning to his life; daughters, Kathryn Clark (Erick) and Sarah Varble (Timothy), both of Henderson, Kentucky; stepdaughter, Bethany Miessner (Peter) of Friendwood, Texas; stepsons, Justin Anderson (Meredith) of Owensboro, Kentucky and Eric Walker of Chelsea, Alabama; father, Richard Brady Shoff of China Grove, North Carolina; sisters, Judy Shoff of Concord, North Carolina; Shirley Armstrong (Larry Love) of Leesburg, Florida; Lillie Mae Little (James Webster) of Springfield, Ohio; and brother, Paul Shoff (Barbara) of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Moriah, Lindsie, Lauren, Keagan, London, Kaden, Sailor and Phoenix; and his beloved Labrador companion, Honey.
The family would like to thank the skilled, professional staff of St. Anthony’s Hospice for not only the stellar medical care they provided, but for their compassion and the emotional and spiritual guidance offered to them.
A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Water’s Edge Church at 233 Watson Lane in Henderson with a celebration of life and meal to follow.
A freewill offering will be accepted at the service which will benefit the family.
