Richard L. Smith

Richard L. Smith will be sadly missed by his friends and family in Henderson County where he resided for the past 45 years until he died on Tuesday morning, May 8, 2018 at 10:00 AM.   An Army Veteran from 1961 to 1964, stationed in Germany, he would later work at Alcan for over 30 years until retirement.Richard was a lover of music and walking but most of all his family.   He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Mary Smith, 3 sisters; Isabell Hawkins, Frances Peay and Lois Evans. Richard is survived by a loving wife; Norma Dean Smith, son; Rick Smith, two step sons; Frank Mooney and his wife Kathy, John Mooney, three grandchildren; Taylor, Zachary and John Daniel Mooney, great granddaughter; Alexis Jade Mooney, three sister; Ruth Evans, Sue Gish and Brenda Welsh, brother; David Smith. Funeral services will be May 11, 2018, 12:00 PM at Haven Pentecostal Church.  Pastor Philip Wagoner will officiate.   Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be 10:00 AM until service time at the church. American legion post #40 burial detail will conduct military honors. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Antony’s Hospice
