Robert Curtis “Bob” Ashby, 86, passed away at 8:04 pm Friday, December 27, 2013. He was born in Sebree, KY on January 25, 1927 to the late Noble Washington and Ora Edwards Ashby. He was a member of the Poole church of Christ, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a retired Rural Mail Carrier and farmer. He served in both World War II and the Korean War. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing and UK basketball. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lois McClarney Ashby, of Corydon, KY; a son, Robert Allen Ashby and his wife, Stephanie, of Sykesville, MD; a daughter, Mary Ashby Brown and her husband, Robert, of Lexington, KY; five grandchildren, Curtis Brown, Mitchell Brown and Seth Brown, of Lexington, KY, Eric Ashby and Samantha Ashby of Sykesville, MD; many nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel. Brother Rob Whitacre and Brother Bill Doyle will officiate. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree. Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday and after 9:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of the Bluegrass, Lexington, KY.
