Robert "Bob" Rowland

Robert “Bob” Rowland, 81 of Henderson, Kentucky passed away at 6:20PM August 8, 2015 at Baptist Health in Madisonville, Kentucky after a long illness. He was a long time member of Audubon Baptist Church. He was affectionately known as “The Candyman” because as he greeted people on Sunday mornings he gave them candy. Bob was a Korean War Veteran, a Purple Heart recipient, a Mason and a Kentucky Colonel. He retired from the Henderson Post Office. Bob was an avid and talented Golfer. He once won a trip to Scotland to play the famed St. Andrews Golf Course. People who knew him were used to seeing him out on the golf courses here in all types of weather. He was a true golfer at heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kie and Lulu Rowland, 4 brothers, 2 sisters and 1 daughter Paula Kay Rowland. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Fay Rowland 1 daughter: Donna Rowland Norman of Evansville, IN 2 grandchildren: Paula Norman-Bradley of Henderson Heath R. Norman and wife Jennifer of Ventura, California 5 Great-grandchildren: Cain Bean, Sadie Bean, Addison Norman, Gunner Bradley and Grayson Norman who all adored him Services will 11:00 AM Friday August 14, 2015 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. Tony Frederick and Randy Norman will officiate. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery in Clay, Kentucky. Friends may call Thursday 4-8PM and Friday 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Riley’s Children’s Hospital, Indianapolis, IN Pallbearers will be Cain Bean, Kenny Tegethoff, Tim Hatfield, Tom Davis, Denise Chappell, Freddie Chappell, Dan Chappell, Mike Rowland, Chris Hyche. Honorary pallbearer in absentee due to his service in the Navy is Heath Norman. Donna and Fay wish to thank the staff on the third floor both East and West Units at Baptist Health Hospital and Dr. Bryce Gibson for their extraordinary care and compassion.
