Robert Louis Griggs

Robert Louis Griggs, 78 Bob Griggs, 78 passed away in his sleep amongst family & friends at Deaconess Gateway Hospital on a gorgeous summer day July 30, 2014. Bob spent his days golfing with his beloved running mates, playing clabber, cheering for UK Basketball and cooking BBQ with multiple generations of family. Bob was a lifelong friend to the underdog and those in need. He was a giver of all things including tomatoes, canned goods & unsolicited advice. Bob loved his family. Bob was known to place an occasional wager on things of matter and many were deemed worthy. He was a member of the Henderson Country Club & Elks Club of Henderson, Kentucky & the Owls of Evansville, Indiana. Bob was born October 19th, 1935 in Union County, Ky. He graduated from Barrett Manuel Training High School in 1954. He served in the US Army & was stationed in Korea. He was a career salesperson working in the meat & personnel lift equipment industries before retiring from Levee Lift in 2001. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Roland Marshall Griggs & Mable Edd Griggs, son Robert Baker Griggs, his brothers Marshall Austin Griggs, John Raymond Griggs & sister Mary Eleanor Fake. Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years Charlye Jo Griggs, two sons Joseph Michael Griggs his wife Meredith of Henderson, Christopher John Griggs and his wife Leigh of Nashville, Tn. two grandchildren Mackenzie Hunter & Madelyn Grace Griggs of Henderson, Ky., brothers James Richard and wife Mary Ann Griggs, Daniel Alan and wife Patti Griggs, sisters Joan and husband Clyde Morehead, Lynda and husband Earl Peters Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday August 2, 2014 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. Father J. Edward Bradley will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday 3-8PM and Saturday 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Daniel Alan Griggs, Mark Peters, Christopher Griggs, Michael Griggs, Bill Clements, Jeff Crafton, Rodney Thomas and Beau Walker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles “Butch” Branson, Shirley Pritchett, Chuck Collie, Paul Chandler, Billy Fryer, Ed Brady, James Wagner and William Boarman.
