Robert Earl Rich

Robert Earl Rich, 82, of Henderson, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Lucy Smith King Care Center. He was born in Waverly, KY on October 21, 1939 to the late Ernest William and Ruby Inas Ritch. Earl was proud to serve the Henderson Police Department for 23 years until his retirement in 1992. Serving as a lieutenant, he was decorated with many awards, including being commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 1976. He was a member of the FOP Lodge #9 since 1969. Earl was a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam War era and member of the 101st Airborne Division. Earl was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and passed his love of the open road to his children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three children, Randy William Rich, Gregory Carroll Rich, and Vickie Jean Rich. He is survived by his children, Lisa Michelle Rich of Madisonville and Rob Rich (Andrea) of Henderson; 10 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and sister, Evelyn Janie Rich. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson with Chaplain Thomas Emerson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday, January 23 from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be Andrew Raley, Jonathan McQuinn, Timmy Enlow, Mike Bryant, Shawn Ploss, Rafe Tanaka, Jake Tanaka, and Cooper Jenkins.
