Robert Glendale Sanders

November 9, 1944 — April 11, 2024

Robert “Bob” Glendale Sanders passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully at the age of 79 beside his wife of 59 years at his home.

He leaves behind his wife, Brenda, four daughters (Kelly (Todd) Cline, Tabitha (Matt Neely) Inge, Kerri (Bill Goodman) Rowe, Tennille (Joe) Garrison, and niece/daughter Sara (Chris) Greene. Grandchildren Jordan, Hannah, Dalton, Braxton, Alaina, Jackson, Hunter, Brady, Theron, Brant, Deacon, Quincey, Kyler, Haley, and Brynn, along with one great grandchild, Hendrix.

Bob was born and raised in Weeksbury, Kentucky. Following industry and family moved to Taylor, Michigan where he met the love of his life, slyly eloped and thus began an adventure eventually landing in Henderson, Kentucky for the past 41 years.

Bob was a tradesman becoming certified in welding and retiring in 1991 from Accuride Corporation. There was nothing that Bob wouldn’t attempt to fix or build. His avid love of DIY led him to from ground up building two family homes, many outbuildings, bookshelves, cabinets, wall hangings, decorations, and even a beautifully crafted cradle that over the years lovingly rocked to sleep many of his grandchildren.

Bob never met a stranger, would stop to help anyone in need even if it meant giving his last dollar, donated for over 40 years to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital, and was charitable in dozens of other means throughout his life. He was unapologetically himself every single day as demonstrated by his quick wit, humor, and sayings that left others belly laughing and in tears. Although he was only an 8th grade graduate, he was immensely intelligent. Everyone turned to him ofr his wisdom about investing, engine trouble, money saving, education, career paths, gardening, electricity, plumbing, and anything in between. He advocated for women’s rights, equality, and kindness, was a champion for the underdog, and was selfless and loving, and the most incredible and memorable storyteller. His legacy is the impact, influence, and love that will continue in those that loved him and will go on forever.
