Roger Miller Fridy

Roger Miller Fridy, 80, of Ashbyburg, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Continued Care at Baptist Hospital in Madisonville. He was born in Ashbyburg on July 28, 1938 to the late Clarene and Miller Fridy. Roger graduated from Hanson High School in 1957.  His work career included Whirlpool, Dixie Pavers and Peabody Coal where he worked as a diesel mechanic and heavy equipment operator.  He retired from Peabody after 35 years and was a member of UMWA Local 1092.  Roger was a US Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 6.  He enjoyed woodworking, farming, boating, horses and restoring antique tractors.  He was an avid UK Fan who liked “Coaching” his cats, especially during tournament time. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Whit Fridy and 3 sisters Maxine Majors, Marilou Jones and Bobby Jean Dabbs. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Frances Lucille (Ray) Fridy, 4 daughters Debbie (Ellis) Wilson of Onton, Phyllis (Ellis) Hodges of Ashbyburg, Abby Lynn Ellis of Sebree, Robyn (Fridy) Tomblinson of Madisonville, 3 grandchildren Odie Hodges and wife Alysia of Ashbyburg, Leah Tomblinson and husband Sam Johnston of Slaughters, Alex Tomblinson of Camp Pendleton, California, 3 great-grandchildren Wayne Hodges of Ashbyburg, Taylor (Hodges) Moyes and husband Heath of Burkburnette, Texas, Stella Reese Johnston of Slaughters, 1 great-great-grandson Oliver Michael Moyes of Burkburnette, Texas and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 1:00 PM Monday, March 25, 2019 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel.  Rev. Dennis Mayfield will officiate.  Burial will be in Onton Cemetery with military rites conducted by Hopkins County Honor Guard and Kentucky Patriot Riders. Visitation will be Sunday 3-7 PM and Monday 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Odie Hodges, Alex Tomblinson, Wayne Hodges, Sam Johnston, Heath Moyes, Chip Tomblinson and Herb Wolfe.
