Roscoe "RJ" Shoulders Jr.

Roscoe "RJ" Shoulders, Jr., 94, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

Born on October 30, 1931, in Henderson, Kentucky, RJ was the son of the late Roscoe "Oss" Shoulders, Sr. and Laura Alvey.

RJ proudly served his country in the United States Army before beginning a long career as a tool and die maker. He was a devoted member of Gideons International, where he faithfully served in a variety of positions within the Henderson Camp and had a passion for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. RJ was also a dedicated member of Hyland Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and teaching Sunday School until this past year.

RJ never met a stranger and was loved by everyone who knew him. He cherished his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his "Little Crew," a name he lovingly gave them himself. Cecilia, Cora, Holland, and Charlie held a special place in his heart, and he loved them as his own. They loved him dearly in return.

In addition to his parents, RJ was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Lee Edwards and Bernice Knight; and his brothers, Robert Nunnelly and James Nunnelly.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mildred Shoulders; his son, Gary (Mary Lou) Shoulders; his daughter, Tracey (Kenny) Gubbins; and nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Tomblinson Funeral Home with Bro. Alan Witham officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery, where military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40 Burial Detail.

Pallbearers will be Terry Todd, Glenn Lancaster, Tommy Biggers, Ron Alexander, Michael Nunnelly, and John Anderson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Griffin, Larry Croxton, and Tom Powell.
