Ruby Catherine Chappell

Ruby Catherine Chappell, 80 of Henderson, KY passed away February 19, 2017 at Redbanks Nursing Home. She was born February 19, 1937 in Henderson, KY to the late Luther Thomas and Mary Catherine Sawyer. Ruby was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and had retired from the Henderson County School System as a teacher's assistant, played the chimes at Holy Name, she was grandparent volunteer of the year, volunteered for various organizations in the community. She also was a cancer survivor and a hot fudge sundae enthusiast. In additions to her parents she was preceded by her brother, Joseph Sawyer. She is survived by her husband of 60 years; Ivan Spencer Chappell, one daughter; Renee Chappell of Henderson, one brother; Larry Eugene Sawyer of Henderson County, two grandchildren; Abby Renee Kendall and William Aaron Kendall, two great grandchildren; Khia Elaine Kendall and Bentlin Markell Briscoe, nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be 12:00 PM, Wednesday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Visitation will be 4:00 PM-8:00 PM, Tuesday and 10:00 AM-11:00 AM, Wednesday at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson. Prayer service will be 6:00 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice.
