Ruby Elizabeth Higginson passed away peacefully in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, April 18, 2020. Born in 1926 and raised in Webster and Union County, Kentucky and Ft. Myers, Florida, Ruby was the youngest of eight children born to Robert Lee and Zelma Elizabeth Wiley Higginson. She was a music student at Western Kentucky University and studied the piano, clarinet and violin. She started her family in Chicago and moved to Bloomington, Indiana before settling in Louisville where she was active in many church activities. As her children grew older, she became a successful real estate agent. She had a keen interest in the landowners forced from their homes and farms to make way for Camp Breckinridge during World War II and helped lead the efforts for proper compensation. She loved family genealogy and documented the Higginson family to the 18th century in Ireland. She enjoyed travel, oil painting, sewing and quilting. A life-long Christian, Ruby was a member of the Westport Road Church of Christ and loved to sing acapella hymns. Ruby will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and aunt who relished time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers Cyrus Martin Higginson, Carl Austin Higginson, Leroy Higginson and Robert Higginson, Jr. and sisters Lois Higginson Springer, Zelma Estelle Higginson Springer, and Oletta Higginson. She is survived by her children Gregory Higginson (Suanne) Au of Melbourne Beach, FL, Teresa Au (Keith) Ray of Louisville, KY, Randall Higginson (Melissa) Au of San Antonio, TX and David Higginson (Lisa) Au of Spring Hill, TN.
