Ruby Edith Townsend

Ruby Edith (Brooks) Townsend, 93 of Slaughters, KY passed away at 12:16 PM Friday February 16, 2018 at Baptist Health in Madisonville. She was born in Webster County, KY on February 25, 1924 to the late Charlie Lee and Viola (Brown) Brooks. Edith was a Homemaker and a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Buford Townsend, 1 grandson Nathan Whitson Townsend and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include 10 children: David Townsend (Glenda), Larry Townsend, Jimmy Townsend (Debbie), Michael Townsend (Glenda),      Jackie Townsend (Shanda), Sharon Copeley (Mike), Roger Townsend,  Darrell Townsend (Tonja), Charlotte Marsh (Bobby), Rickie Townsend (Shelly), 1 Brother Marion Thomas Brooks, 31 Grandchildren, 71 Great-grandchildren, 9 Great-great-grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. Services will be Noon Monday February 19, 2018 at Mt. Gilead General Baptist Church in Slaughters.  Bro. Steve Dame and Bro. Harry Baldwin will officiate.  Burial will be in Slaughters Cemetery.  Visitation will be at Mt. Gilead General Baptist Church Sunday 1-5PM and Monday 10:00 AM until service time at the church.  Pallbearers will be Roger Townsend, Rickie Townsend, Darrell Townsend, Kevin Townsend, Bobby Marsh and Kirby Townsend.  Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Slaughters Cemetery Fund or Mt. Gilead General Baptist Church.  Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel is handling arrangements.
