Ruby Merle Winebarger

November 15, 1920 — June 28, 2020

The family of Ruby Melton Winebarger sadly announce her passing Sunday June 28, 2020. We will all have to adjust our lives without her. Born in Sebree, Ky, November 15, 1920 to Clarence and Verna Allen Melton, she grew up in the Petersburg area.  Proceeding her in death are her husband Richard and sisters Ora Lee McMullin (David), Cleola (Phillip) Pittenger and brother Ralph Emerson (Anna Lee) Melton.  Niece Judy Wiggins and nephew David Lee McMullin as well as great nieces Laura Daniel & Donna Jo McNeely also preceeded her in death. Ruby married Richard Winebarger expanding her  family and many new relationships for life.  Years in the military, school, music, teaching, and State Department of Education landed them in Frankfort, KY for 53 years.Ruby was a long time member of The First United Methodist Church of Frankfort and the Susanna Hart Shelby Chapter of the DAR serving in many capacities.  Her love of music grew into playing the organ for many events though out the state and teaching music to many students.   Surviving family Glen (Shirley) Melton, Don Melton, Steve (Marilyn) Melton, Joe (Norma ) Allen, David (Martha) Allen, Kelly (Steve) Edmonson, Paul (Janna) Melton, Sarah (Jimmy) Farris, Ron (Alexia) Couch, Anthony (Glenda) Guile, Greg (  Jeda ) Wiggins,  Pat McMullan, Martha Ann (  Jim )  Hall , Marilee (Mike) Mauney, Steve McNeely, and Richard Boggess (Hays Gozzard).  A great deal of gratitude for Virgie Ruth and her extended family for their service and love for Ruby allowing a great quality of life. Graveside services are planned for Friday July 3, 2020 at 11 AM.   Please select a charity that is important to you and make a donation in Ruby’s honor.
