Ruth Bumpus

Ruth (Walden) Bumpus, 79, Henderson, passed away at 7:05 AM. on December 5, 2011 at Lucy Smith King Care Center. Ruth was a member of the Ermine Ford #9 Eastern Star in Poole, Kentucky and was the Worthy Grand Matron of Kentucky during the years of 1972-1973. She devoted much of her life to the philanthropies associated with the organization. She was preceded in death by her parents Buford Walden and Violet (Clark) Walden, brother B E Walden Jr., sister Anne Eastham. She is survived by her son, Alan Bumpus and his wife, Dawn, of Corydon, KY daughter, April Gregory and her husband, Gary, of Ponte Vedra, FL sister, Jean Yeager of Franklin, IN sister in Christ, Juanita Ellis of Henderson, KY daughter in Christ, Dr. Della Ellis of Oklahoma City, OK 2 grandchildren, Geremy Gregory and his wife, Susan, of Atlanta, GA Andraea Stowers and her husband, James, of Ormond Beach, FL; 2 great grandchildren 9 nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the caregivers of Lucy Smith King Care Center for Ruth’s excellent care and comforting attention. Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday December 8, 2011 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. Rev. Mary Wrye will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday 4-8 PM and Thursday 10 AM until service time. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Henderson.
