Sharon Jean Howard (Hill), 77, of Henderson, KY, passed away peacefully Monday September 2, 2024, at her home surrounded with her family.
Sharon was a stay-at-home mom for 12 years. She made clothes for her children and felt a sense of pride when they wore them. Sharon enjoyed participating in praise and worship, cooking delicious meals, reading a variety of books, watching crime shows, and spending quality time with her family. While in her thirties, she was determined to put herself through college at Brescia University and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in early childhood education.
She established a kindergarten program at Precious Blood Elementary in Owensboro, creating a nurturing environment where young children could begin their educational journey. She also worked at Longfellow Elementary School through the LIT program. Sharon received the prestigious Kentucky Colonel title, the highest honor appointed by the governor.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Aurthor Leo Howard Jr and Margaret Virginia Howard; brother, Aurthor Howard Jr; and daughter, Alyssa Payne.
She is survived by her four children, Dawn Posey of Henderson, Shannon Burroughs of Henderson, Alexander McKinney of Henderson and Jordan Payne of Owensboro; 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; two siblings, Sharlene McDaniel (Bill) of Owensboro and Doug Howard (Betty) of Owensboro; cousin, caregiver and daughter by heart, Liiticia (Tish).
A memorial service with be scheduled on a later date.
