Shelby "Red" Lee Fugate, 81, of Mortons Gap, Ky passed away Sept. 25, 2008 at his home. He was born Feb. 9, 1927 to John Edward and Mable Jane (Evans)Fugate. He was retired from Peabody Coal Company. He was an active member and usher at New Lakeside General Baptist Church in Mortons Gap. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Barbara (Tirey) Fugate, 4 daughters Frankie Barnes, Vickie Dugger, Jill Melton, Mae Cobb, 2 sons William Fugate, Jackie Fugate, 1 sister Martha Baize and 1 brother John Paul Fugate 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren several neices and nephews. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Sun. Sept. 28 at New Lakeside General Baptist Church in Mortons Gap. Bro. Mickey Travis will officiate. Visitation will be 5-9 PM Sat. Sept. 27 at New Lakeside General Baptist Church and 9 AM-until service time Sunday. Pallbearers will be T.J. Rager, Brandon Rager, Jay Dugger, Chris Barnes, B.J. Cates, Joey Fugate and Aaron Fugate.
