Sherry Kay Skaggs

Sherry Kay (Newcom) Skaggs, 74, of Corydon, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at home. She was born in Evansville, IN on October 28, 1946 to the late Ila and Leona (Mitchell) Newcom.She had worked at Audubon Hosiery Mill in Henderson and Sheller Globe (UTA) in Morganfield. She was retired from Gibbs Die Casting and was a longtime member of Corydon General Baptist Church. She loved reading, riding around, and eating out. She loved candy and ice cream and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Angela Newcom and brother, Mike Newcom. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Oscar “Bud” Joseph Skaggs; children, Chris Skaggs (Shelly) of Henderson and Stephanie Smithhart (Kevin) of Henderson; siblings, Jimmy Newcom (Carol) of Poole, KY, Brenda Gobin (Terry) of Diamond, KY, Ann May (Johnny) of Providence, KY, Pam Wright of Henderson, and Bruce Newcom of Clay; five grandchildren, Derek Skaggs (Ashly), Ashley Skaggs, Max Skaggs, Trent Skaggs, and Kaylee Smithhart; great grandchildren, Cooper Skaggs and Claire Skaggs. All services are private. Pallbearers will be Derek Skaggs, Max Skaggs, Trent Skaggs, Kevin Smithhart, Heath Moyes and Tim Denton. Honorary pallbearers will be Cooper Skaggs and Kaylee Smithhart. Bro. Billy Hatfield will officiate. Tomblinson Funeral Home, Henderson Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
