Shirley Monroe Givens

Shirley Monroe Givens, age 91, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Redbank's Nursing Home while under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.

He was born in Henderson Kentucky on December 22nd, 1932.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching sports, old westerns, and game shows; He always knew the weather and current events. Those close to him would describe him as a wonderful papaw.

Monroe was always a hard worker. He held several jobs in his lifetime some of which included being a rig operator, a water tank painter, and a bartender.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Ann Givens; his mother and father, and his daughter, Debra Wilkie.

Monroe is survived by his son, Mike Givens, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Per his wishes, there will be no services.

Monroe holds a special place in the lives of many people. ‘His girls’ Granddaughter, Beckey Morphett and great-granddaughter, Brittany Walker helped care for him in his final months and spent lots of time enjoying the life of this great man.

Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson is entrusted with arrangements.
