Shirley Hagan

November 2, 1938 — August 16, 2025

Shirley Jean Hagan, age 86, passed away on Saturday, August 16, at her home. A proud graduate of Henderson City High School, Shirley devoted much of her life to preserving the legacy of her alma mater. She served as Treasurer on the Barrett City High Alumni Board, where her greatest passion was raising funds for the Alumni Foundation to provide college scholarships for students whose parents or grandparents were alumni. In recognition of her dedication, fellowship, and goodwill in this work, she was honored with the title of Kentucky Colonel.



Shirley is survived by her four children, Gary Hagan, Kim Poynter (Brian), Cindy Breedlove (Tony), and Daryl Hagan (Jill); her sister, Beverly Austin; and her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Michael Hagan, Andrew (Kendall) Swanson and their children Edie, Ashby, and Navy, William Angermeier (Caitlin), Dr. Tessa Breedlove, Maxwell Hagan (Lauren) and their children Lily, John, and Thomas, and Margaret Hagan. She is also survived by her two dearest friends, Deloris Willingham and Doreen Simpson, who were a constant source of love and companionship throughout her life.



Funeral services will be held at Community Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 20thwith visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by the service at 12:00 p.m with Rev. Chuck Summers and Rev. Lauren McDuffie offiacting. A private entombment will take place afterward. Pallbearers will be Andrew Swanson, William Angermeier, Tony Breedlove, Brian Poynter, Michael Hagan and Eli Burnett.
