Shirley Jean Lester

Shirley Jean (Holeman) Lester, 85, of Henderson passed away Tuesday January 4, 2022 at the Linda E. White Hospice House.  She was born in Sturgis, Kentucky on July 10, 1936 to the late Russell H. and Ona Bell (Cartwright) Holeman.  Shirley worked as a legal secretary and later ran her own medical transcription service, Lester’s Transcription.  She was also a member of the Legal Secretary Organization and a member of First Baptist Church in Henderson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers Russell H. Holeman, Jr., Louis Holeman and 2 sisters Ruth Kellen and Anna Hina.  Survivors include her husband of 67 years Don Lester; 3 children Donald R. Lester II (Cynthia) of Sacramento, KY, Toni Lester of Pleasureville, KY, Amber Reeder (John) of Indianapolis; 6 grandchildren Dr. Nicole Ryan of Pleasureville, KY, Adam Floyd of Alexandria, VA, Samuel Lester of Smynra, TN, Joshua Lester of Owensboro, KY, Jacob Reeder and Jessica Reeder of Indianapolis, IN; 7 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Services will be 1:30 PM Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel with Rev. John Reeder officiating.  Burial will be in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis, KY.  Visitation will be Saturday 10:30 AM until service time at the funeral home.  Pallbearers will be Rex Ryan, Sam Lester, Joshua Lester, Adam Floyd, Jacob Reeder, Ethan Ryan.  Honorary pallbearers will be Cameron and Conner Ryan.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to New Hope Animal Rescue, 526 Atkinson St. Henderson, KY 42420.
