With deep sadness, we share the passing of Susan Kay Samples, who departed for her heavenly home after a lifetime of sharing her joyful kindness, optimism, and love. Susan passed away at home in Henderson KY, surrounded by her family, in the most peaceful way imaginable.
Susan shared an incredible love and beautiful life with her high school sweetheart, Dan Samples. They were married 54 years and had a marriage that others viewed as incredibly strong and special. Together, they built a life they loved and had many adventures together. They had two children and five grandchildren. Susan was such a giving and loving mother and grandmother, and made such a positive impact on the lives of the grandchildren.
Susan loved Jesus and was a sinner saved by Grace. She was a long-time member of Zion Baptist Church. Christ radiated from her in the form of huge hugs, bright smiles, and contagious laughter. Her faith is what helped her through many years of battling cancer. Her life was a testament to prayer. Susan fought so hard for many years, but now she’s cured and with her Savior!
Susan touched so many lives on her earthly journey. She was famous for her immense joy that she would graciously share with her family, friends, and community. Her huge smile and warm spirit reflected her love for Jesus and she shared it fully with others. She leaves behind many precious friends, but also reunites with many. Heaven is rejoicing to have her there!
Susan loved being home as much as she loved traveling. She and Dan had many adventures together. They loved to hike, go on cruises, and camp in their motor home. You could find her often with her husband and family at bluegrass festivals. She was a huge fan of bluegrass music!
Susan loved her peaceful porch at home and spent so many days knitting blankets, sweaters, and hats for her family. Every stitch is treasured. She and Dan would feed the birds and look over the pond while sharing their enjoyment of each other, nature, and listening to music.
Susan’s motto-
When I go to Heaven, I’ll be with Jesus! If I stay here, He’ll be with me!
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to St Anthony’s home hospice for their kindness and care while helping to walk Susan through her last days.
