Thomas Edward Hicks, 78, of Henderson, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 4, 2021 surrounded by his family in Henderson. He was born in Monroe, MI on May 24, 1943 to the late Chester and Grace Hicks.Tom worked at Firestone/Accuride for more than 25 years, then retired in 2007 from Whirlpool in Evansville. After retirement, he enjoyed mowing grass on his John Deere, listening to the Beach Boys and blues, and watching every John Wayne movie ever made. He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Midway from 1963-65. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, Ted and Letha Freeman; sisters, Phyllis DeMerchant and his twin sister, Clara Lizyness; brothers, Jim Hicks, Leon Hicks, Tim Hicks, and Blanchard DeMerchant. Tom is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy (Freeman) Hicks of Henderson; daughters, Lisa Urbina (Albert) of Henderson and Amy Jacobs (Brian) of Daleville, IN; son, Thomas James “Casey” Hicks (Christina) of Geneva; grandson, Orrin Givens (Myka) of Henderson; granddaughters, Katherine Magnin of Daleville, IN and Emily Lynn (Mike Streicher) of Albany, IN; great grandsons and best friends, Waylon and Chance Givens of Henderson; sisters, Ruth Ann Bailey, Helen Marshall, and Beverly Spodeck; brothers, Dale Hicks and Jimmie Freeman; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 13 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson. Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday, June 13 from 12-2 p.m. Memorial contributions may take the form of donations in Tom’s name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
