Thomas “Tom” Lilly Waggener, 74, of Henderson, KY passed away June 14, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family, under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.
Tom was born on May 6, 1950 in Morganfield, KY to the late Cecelia Hedges and William “WJ” Joseph Waggener. Tom served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1972 achieving the rank of BM3 on the USS Springfield (CLG-7). He retired from Dana after 20+ years of service.
Throughout his life, Tom was known for his warm heart, quick wit, and infectious laughter. He had a passion for his family, the Kentucky Wildcats and the Chicago Cubs. As a die-hard Wildcats fan you could often find Tom watching his beloved Cats play from the comfort of his living room. He loved coaching enthusiastically from his recliner.
In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his Step-Father, Morris A. “Rock” Spalding, and Grandparents, James Thomas “Jim Tom” and Beatrice Buckman.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Carla S Waggener; children, Mindy (Jerry) Spainhoward, Mary (Kevin) Christian, Lorrie (John) Moseley; grandchildren, Aaron (Madison) Spainhoward, Austin (Jade) Spainhoward, Jacob (Wendy) Spainhoward, Lillian “Lilly” Christian, Abigail ”Abby” Christian, Carter Moseley, Micaiah Spainhoward, Harrison Moseley; siblings, William “Scott” (Pamela) Waggener, Kelly (Rocky) Gish, Charles “Pat”(Melissa) Spalding, Robert “Robbie” (April) Spalding, Jerry Waggener, Mark (Evelyn) Spalding, 3 Great-granddaughters and so many other loved ones.
Services will be 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel with Terry Yancy officiating and burial to follow in Baskett Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 19th, 2024 at 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
Tom was an incredible person who always put others before himself. He was kind, loving, and generous, and he will be deeply missed by all of us who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories that we will cherish forever.
Rest in peace, Daddy. You will always be loved and remembered.
