Truman Edward Swearer, 90, of Reed passed away Friday October 14, 2016 at Redbanks Nursing Home. He was born in Henderson County on February 11, 1926 to Everett and Ethel Mae (Downs) Swearer. Truman was an iron worker for over 50 years for Local 103. He was a WWII US Army Veteran, member of the American Legion Worsham Post 40 and Masonic Lodge #878. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sons: Gary Truman Swearer and Paul Beasley, 1 brother Wilbur Swearer and 2 sisters Christine Keiser and Juanita Caton. Survivors include his wife of 70 years Donnie Swearer, 2 children Gilda Justice and Clarence “Tootie” Swearer both of Reed, 2 sisters Ellen Lykins of Evansville, Jean Sinclair of Newburgh, Indiana, 1 brother Lilburn Baize of Cadiz, Kentucky, 5 Grandchildren: Stacey McNeill, Jeremy Ralph, Jock Swearer, Amy Swearer and Paul Chandler, 9 Great-grandchildren, 1 Great-great-grandchild, nieces and nephews. Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday October 18, 2016 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson. Rev. JW Haire will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Reed. Visitation will be Monday 4-8PM and Tuesday 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Redbanks Nursing Home. Pallbearers will be Stan Williams, Jeremy Ralph, Jock Swearer, Zach Morris , Robert Mays, Tanner Swearer and Randy Morris.
