Vaneta (Wilson) Oakley Buchanan, 87, of Madisonville, KY passed away Monday September 20, 2010 at 9:50 AM at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville, KY. She was born November 10, 1922 in Slaughters, KY to W.R. “Jack” and Beulah (Trice) Wilson. She was a machine operator at General Electric in Madisonville, KY and retired from there in 1988. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Slaughters, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Elvis Oakley (dec. 1975), her second husband Kirtley Buchanan (dec. 2000), her daughter Cheryl D. Oakley (dec. 1958), and a brother Cleatus Wilson (dec. 1995). She is survived by 2 sons: Gary and his wife Brenda Oakley of Manitou, KY Steve Oakley of Madisonville, KY 1 daughter: Karen and her husband Mike Poole of Slaughters, KY 4 grandchildren: Lori and her husband Will Davis Adam Poole Aaron and his wife Rachel Poole Ethan Oakley 4 great-grandchildren: Daniel Davis, Brianna Davis, Molly Davis O’Meara, and Riley Bo Patterson Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday September 23, 2010 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Slaughters-Hanson Chapel in Slaughters, KY with Bro. Harry Baldwin and Bro. Steve Dame officiating. Burial will be in Oakley Cemetery in Slaughters, KY. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday September 22, 2010 and 9 AM-until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Paul Austin, Terry Fulkerson, Dennis McCully, Terry Rakestraw, Jimmy Brooks, and Jeff Pettit. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons.
