Vera Nell Isbell Gish, age 81, passed away peacefully at her home on June 8, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Nell was born on December 31, 1944 to Herman Isbell and Corrine 'Tiny' Isbell in Spotsville, Kentucky.
Nell married the love of her life, Donnie, on May 23, 1961. He was her friend and partner for 65 years of marriage. Together they built a life filled with love, trust and the refusal to ever give up on one another. They chose love, family and one another.
In addition to her parents, Nell was preceded in death by one brother, Herman Isbell and one sister, Ellen Ray Horn.
Nell is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Donald Eugene Gish of Henderson, Kentucky. One daughter, Donna New (Mike) of Franklin, Kentucky. Two sons both of Henderson, Kentucky. Kem Gish (Loretta), and Scott Gish (Kristy); Five grandchildren, Daniel New (Emily), Krista Jackson (Chris), Morgan Holland (Michael), Austin Gish (Jordan), and Dalton Peeples; Twelve great-grandchildren, Adam, Sarah, Emerson, Beckett, Ava, Breton, Alle, Ella, Maverick, Isabell Mae, Nova and Flora One sister-in-law, Joyce Bader, Texas; several nieces and nephews, who were all special to her.
Though she is no longer on this earth with us, and will be deeply missed for her quick wit, spunky attitude and selflessness, we can find comfort in knowing she has left a legacy of love for all of her family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Dayne Bogard officiating.
Special thank you to St. Anthony's Hospice and their staff members for the great care and respect they provided.
