Victor E. Carlstrom, 90, passed away Tuesday May 17, 2022, in Newburgh Indiana. He was born in Chicago Illinois, February 23, 1932, son of Oscar and Evelyn Carlstrom. The youngest and only surviving of two brothers, Delmar, and Carl. Victor attended Calumet High school and was an accomplished wrestler. He served in the United States Army, 37th Engineer Battalion, in Germany. After he returned home, he worked for the Phone Company in Chicago while getting an Electrical Engineering degree. He met Myrtle Meeks in Chicago while working at the phone company and were soon married. They had two sons Bryan and Stephen while in Chicago. Then the family relocated to Denver Colorado where Victor worked for Western Electric for most of his career. The final years of his career he transferred to North Carolina and then Oklahoma. Upon retiring, they decide to move back to Southern Indiana where most of Myrtle’s brother and sisters lived. Myrtle passed away in 2015 after 59 years of marriage. Victor is survived by Stephen Carlstrom, sons Cole and Jack, and Bryanna Carlstrom, daughter of Bryan. Victor was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. He sacrificed much to put his family first. He enjoyed exploring the mountains of Colorado and even did a bit of skiing. Victor had a passion for woodworking and was also an accomplished carver. His good nature and sense of humor will be missed. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson with Pastor Brett Eblen officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Niagara. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 25 from 11 a.m. until service time.
