Virgil Calvin Goins, Sr.

Virgil “Slick” Calvin Goins, Sr., 89 of Owensboro passed away Tuesday July 1, 2014 at Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson. He was born on August 12, 1924 to John and Effie (Jones) Goins in Daviess County. He was a retired electrician, World War II Army Veteran and loved Western movies. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 12 siblings. Survivors include Children: Ruth Thomason of Henderson Zonia Hayes and husband Eddie of Florida Lana Rodgers of Hanson Butch Goins of Spottsville Eugene Goins and wife Rachel of Robards Dwayne Goins and wife Lena of Central City Jeff Goins of Baskett Roger Goins and wife Mary Jo of Baskett Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday July 3, 2014 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. Bro. Allen Shouse and Bro. Dennis McFadden will officiate. Burial will be in Baskett Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 5-8PM and Thursday 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Baskett Cemetery Fund. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Worsham Post #40 Honor Guard and Burial Detail.
