Virginia Boswell Bennett, lovingly known as "Jennie," passed away at home surrounded by her loving family.
Jennie was born at home in Zion, Kentucky, on December 6, 1928, to the late Lannie and Alvasia Boswell. She was a longtime and devoted member of Zion Baptist Church and her church family. Jennie was a devoted wife of 70 years to the late Robert J. Bennett Jr.
Jennie was preceded in death by her son, Robert L. Bennett (Bobby), and brothers Otis (Francis), Starling (Marie), Lannie L. (Rusty), and Larry.
Of all the roles she held in life, the one she cherished most was caring for her family. A loving mother and a proud aunt known to many as "Aunt Jennie." To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was simply "Meme." She was the matriarch of her family and the heart that held generations together.
A homemaker in the truest sense of the word, Jennie created a home that welcomed everyone. Her door was always open, and her table was a gathering place where family and friends could stop in for a glass of tea and great conversation. Many fond memories were made simply sitting together, watching the cars go by, never knowing who might stop in next to reminisce and share stories of days gone by.
Jennie was a natural storyteller who believed deeply in preserving family history. She loved sharing memories of earlier times and ensuring that the stories of her family were never forgotten. She also treasured the lifelong friendships she maintained with her classmates and friends, always enjoying the chance to spend time together and recall the many experiences they had shared.
Above all, Jennie worked hard throughout her life to care for those she loved. She brought her family together, nurtured them, and created a legacy of warmth, strength, and devotion that will continue for generations. Survived by her children, Nancy B. Mills (Terry), Becky B. Jones, Patty B. Hill (Ray). Grandchildren: Jenny Hudson (Critt), Audra Jones (Phillip), Jessica Williams (Drew), Pierce Walker, and Jennifer Jones (Steven). Six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday March 11, 2026 at Zion Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Spivey officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 PM- 7:00 PM Tuesday March 10, 2026 at Zion Baptist Church and on Wednesday 9:00 AM until service time.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
