Walter Owen Beck

Walter Owen Beck, 92, of Smith Mills, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Deaconess Gateway in Newburgh.

He was born in Alzey Bottoms (Geneva), KY on August 26, 1932 to the late Owen H. and Drusie M. (Gaines) Beck.

Walter retired from Accuride and found joy in golfing, hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed gardening, especially tending to his petunias, and loved busting his nuts: black walnuts and pecans, that is. Above all, he cherished family gatherings and time spent with loved ones.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo (Clark) Beck; three sons, Walter “Eddie” Edward Beck, James “Jimmy” Lee Beck, and Richard “Ricky” Allen Beck; brother, Johnathan “Johnny” Roy Beck.

Survivors include eight children, Joey Beck (Carrie Jo) of Henderson, Tina Lewis (Everett) of Henderson, Pam Brown (Ted) of Newburgh, Cindy French (Mike) of Waverly, Robert “Boobles” Beck of Haubstadt, Kim Barrett Luigs (Larry) of Haubstadt, Mark Beck (Nancy( of Henderson, and Michael Jeffrey Beck of Waverly; 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; three brothers, Tony Beck of Henderson, David Beck (Jo Ann) of Henderson (Geneva), and Steve Beck (Rita) of Smith Mills; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 3 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson with Deacon Richard Beaven officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday, January 2 from 3-7 p.m. and on Friday, January 3 from 9 a.m. until funeral time.

Pallbearers will be Brooke Fitzsimmons, Crystal Jewel, Amy Jo Barnes, Lynsey Lamont, Amber Thompson, Ashlee Jones , and Zoe Beck.
