Wilbur Allen Davis

Wilbur Allen “Webb” Davis, Jr. 86 of Sebree passed away Sunday March 24 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson. He was born in Onton, Kentucky on April 25, 1926 to the late Wilbur Allen Davis, Sr. and Mary Ann (Lloyd) Davis. Webb retired from Liggett & Myers Tobacco Co. after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Sebree Methodist Church. Webb was involved in the Sebree Chamber of Commerce, Webster Co. Conservation, American Legion, Webster County Economic Development Board and Independence Bank. He was a veteran of the Navy in WWII. He enjoyed golf and he and his golfing buddies started the “Good Ole Boys Golf Tournament” which they had every year. His family vacations were a pleasure for him being with all of his children and grandchildren. Webb was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law Lee Hayes, and a grandson-in-law Danny Marsh. He is survived by his wife Elgene (Sandefur) Davis of Sebree, KY, 2 daughters: Benetta “Beni” and her husband Larry Bridges of Newburgh, IN and Renita and her husband Robert Fightmaster of Sadieville, KY, 1 son Archie A. and his wife Jeannie Davis, 1 brother Henry T. and his wife Harriet Davis of Evansville, IN, 8 grandchildren: Brandon (Christy) Hayes, Ryan (Michelle) Hayes, Lori (Derek) Jaquess, Eric (Sara) Bridges, Andrea (Pat) Henry, Candy Marsh, Gordon Fightmaster, and Amy (Tom) Cook, and 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday March 28, 2013 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel with Pastor Selby Coomer, Pastor James Shuck and Father Al Bremmer officiating. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 PM Wednesday March 27 and 9:00-11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Eddie Melton, Tom Cook, Brandon Hayes, Ryan Hayes, Michael Nolan, and Gordon Fightmaster. Honorary Pallbearers will be Keith Fightmaster, Cody Fightmaster, and Jonathan Fightmaster. Webb’s family would like to thank all of his caregivers at home: Charlotte, Linda, Jean, and Kathy. Also the Doctor and staff at the Grant Unit at Western Kentucky Veteran Nursing Home for all of their care and compassion. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimers or to Sebree United Methodist Church.
