William "Bill" S. Brown

August 3, 1937 — July 26, 2016

William S. Bill Brown passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2016. He was 78 years old. Bill was a basketball star for Barrett Manual Training High School (1953-1955) and a great tennis player. He proudly served Henderson as City Commissioner for 8 years (1982-1991). He was one of the founding members of Henderson County Special Olympics. He served in the Army from 1958-1960 and the Reserves in 1960-1964. He became a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church-the class of 1999. Bill was an Eucharist minister for the Methodist Church. Bill had visited all 50 states and was an avid UK fan. He was a lifetime member of Henderson Moose Lodge #732 and the Elks Lodge of Henderson and a member of American Legion Worsham Post #40 in Henderson. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Bertie Brown and his brother John Brown. Survivors include his wife Rebecca L. Hudson-Brown, sister; Sue (Phil) Engle , niece; Pam (Hugh) Davis, Nephews; Ralph and Don Engle, great niece; Olivia Davis, Father in law; Henry (Wilma) Hudson, sister in law; Debra Hudson, brother in law; Steve and Debbie Lynn Hudson, and sister in law; Dona (Peter) Boysen , nieces and nephews; April (Erick) Trice, Michael (Melissa) Beverly, Jon (Hanae) Hudson, Jason Hudson, Erin (Mike) Schauss, Mackenzie (Dustin) Stolz, Leah and Daniel Boysen, great nieces and nephews; Michael and Maxwell Trice, Isaac, Kellen, Isabella Beverly, Martin, Ewan and Finn Schauss, Ava Stolz. Memorial Mass will be Noon, Saturday, July 30 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Father Larry McBride will officiate and burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery with full military rites conducted by American Legion Worsham Post #40 Burial Detail. Visitation will be 2:00 PM-8:00PM Friday at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson with the Moose Memorial service at 5:30 PM. Prayers will be at 6:00 PM with Father Anthony Shonis. The family would like everyone to wear blue and white at the funeral. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Riverview School.
