William "Bill" H. Shelby

William H. Shelby, 87, passed away on 10/19/2017 at home.  He was a U.S. Army Korean Veteran; 62 year member of the American Legion Worsham Post 40,and 39 year member of American Legion 40/8 where he held numerous offices. Bill was a founding member of the Burial Detail and the Memorial Crosses, former member of Cairo Volunteer Fire Department and was an Honorary KY Colonel.  He was a member of Ellen Moore Methodist Church in Fairfield, IL; and he retired from Continental Emsco/LTV. Preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, 2 sisters and son, Scott Rice.  Survived by wife, Beth of 42 years; Children: Keith (Tammie) Rice of Cairo, KY, Susan Rice of Lebanon, OH; Brother: Harold (Pat) Shelby of Robinson, IL; Grandchildren: Megan Rice, Mallory Rice, Laura McGrew, Brittany Shelton; 2 Great Grandchildren: Hannah and Alexis; nieces and nephews; and canine companion Shelby. Funeral Services will be Monday, October 23rd at 2:00 PM at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Michael Sweeny and Jana Heierman will be officiating.  Pallbearers: Keith Rice, Mike Shelby, Frank Poole, Tony Willett, Donnie Braden and Mark Beck; Honorary Pallbearers: James Taylor and Luis Cobos. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Full Military Rites will be conducted by Worsham Post 40 Burial Detail at the Grave site.
