William H. “Bud” Hill, Jr., passed away June 2, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. He was born September 8, 1943, to the late William H. and Mary Sue Hill.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of First United Methodist Church. Bud was a master woodworker who lovingly created works of art and was always willing to share his knowledge. He was an active member of the Habitat crew, volunteered at the Brain Injury Adventure Camp and helped the Henderson Co. Diabetes Coalition in numerous ways. Going on mission trips for rebuilding damaged areas was near and dear to his heart.
A dear friend stated “Bud was such a great and compassionate person, though he tried to maintain his “tough guy” persona sometimes. We weren’t fooled into thinking he wasn’t the kind and caring person he was. He was super talented and that will leave a huge hole.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Janice Hill and Sharon Morse, infant, Melody Sue; father-in-law, Kenneth Burton.
Bud is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karen Burton Hill; son, Brian Hill (Mary Beth); daughter, Mendi Dunning (Grant) both of Princeton, Kentucky; mother-in-law, Doris Burton; grandchildren, Tawni Gray, Cassidy Gray, Laura Hill, Emily Hill and John Hill; great grandson, Gannon Brown; sisters, Gayla Hill and Linda Hill. Also survived by nephew, Keith Hill, cousins, numerous friends, extended family members and special fur baby, Dolly.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 6, at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel with Pastor Janet Carden and Rev. Dave Lathem officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be 2:00PM-7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 5 and 9:00 AM until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
