William Odell Rhoades, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away on June 7, 2026, at Linda E White Hospice. Born on July 12, 1940, in Augusta, Georgia to the late William and Edna Rhoades, he was a well-loved character who made a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Odell proudly served in the US Army after which he resided in Marietta, Georgia for many years. He worked as a lineman for Southern Bell, bringing his skill and dedication to the job every day. Outside of work, he was a man of many passions—he loved bowling, fishing, gardening, and playing guitar. However, nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his great-grandchildren, who will surely miss their Pop Pop’s warm presence.
He is now reunited with his brother, Eddie Rhoades, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wonderful wife, Karen Rhoades; his son, William Odell Rhoades, Jr. (Beth) of Lancaster, Ohio; and his stepchildren, TammyLynn Alsup (Michael) of Henderson, Kentucky and Jennifer Essen (Michael) of Dallas, Georgia; brother Robert Rhoades (Kathy); and sisters Becky Belt and Jackie Scarborough. He was also proud of his 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who adored him.
Odell was a dedicated member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, where he found community and fellowship.
A graveside service will take place 1:00 PM on Friday, June 26, 2026, at St. Louis Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Worsham Post #40 Burial Detail and Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, Friday, June 26, 2026 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel.
Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating his life and sharing fond memories. Odell’s spirit, love, and laughter will be missed dearly but will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
